A Day in the Life.....
Thursday, February 22, 2007
I thought maybe I would start up this blog thing again. As you may already know or have already guessed, I had my baby! Noah Ronald Van Orman was born January 13 at 1:11 pm. He weighed in at 9 lbs. 8 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long. He has truly been joy in our home this past month and a half. Tahirah has become a little mommy and has shown no jealousy whatsoever towards him (thank goodness!). Having three hasn't been a stressful as I thought it was going to be. In fact I thought going from one to two was much harder.
Update from my last post: Carson is now potty trained!!! That glorious day came in November when he finally decided that going in the potty was a much better idea then in a diaper. I'm hoping Tahirah is much easier since she has already shown quite of bit of interest in the idea.

LET'S GET MESSY!!
Today Carson asked me if he could paint and of course Tahirah didn't want to miss out on the fun. They sure have a lot of fun making a mess. And honestly, the huge smile on their faces is worth the clean up afterwards!
Some of you may have noticed that I still have a diapered 3 1/2 yr old and this is certainly not from lack of his mother's efforts. He is definatly set in his ways (hummm....could he get this from his...father?) Anyway, I've pretty much decided to wait until that glorious day when he finally decides that going in the potty is not that bad afterall because I certainly wasn't getting anywhere by deciding for him.

Sorry, it's been a while. Dayv's dad had a heart attack so I went up to stay with them in Canada for a little over a week to see what I could do to help out. He is doing fine now. The kids had a lot of fun getting to know their other Grandma and Grandpa. I'm a little annoyed with myself because I took absolutly no pictures the whole time I was up there. It's been pretty uneventful since we've gotten back home. Everything is still going well with the pregnancy. I'm just always achey and tired (and hungry!) . My house is still a mess from when we got home so I guess I'd better take advantage of Tahirah's naptime and do something about that!

THE ZOO!
Today we went to the zoo with my parents and my brother Ben. It was quite busy being labor day and all but we had a lot of fun, especially the kids. Tahirah got to enjoy a little more than last time (when she was about 9 months old). The black bear ended up being my favorite this time because he was just so darn cute sleeping on his little log. Carson said the Tiger was his favorite and Tahirah just about liked any animal she saw. Carson picked out a little squishy leporard to take home and Tahirah got a little plastic baby elephant (now she finally has her own animal so she doesn't have to keep taking Carson's, which he does NOT enjoy).

IT'S A BOY!!!
Well, I had my ultrasound today and we found out it is a boy. Everything looked great and my due date is still January 13th. Carson was telling his nursery leader that he was having a brother (before we found out) and so I asked him if he'd be ok with a sister too. He told me he didn't like baby sisters. I said but you like Tahirah and he said well, I don't like ALL baby sisters. So, he is very happy it is a boy. He says he's going to play with him and sleep with him (he's really excited about eventually having his brother as a roommate - we'll see how long that lasts). It's nice to finally know what we are having so I can get somewhat prepared in the next 4 months.

TAHIRAH'S NEW BED
We had a person in our ward offer us a toddler bed. So, we thought what a great opportunity to get Tahirah used to it now so she's all ready when the baby comes. Carson made the transistion pretty easy so we didn't think it would be much different with Tahirah. Boy, were we wrong! She is a lot more attached to her crib then we thought. Even if she is sound asleep and we lay her in that bed her eyes pop wide open and she starts screaming. What's weird about it is she loves to lay in her new bed and jump around on it, she just refuses to sleep in it. So, I guess any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

MY CUTE KIDS
I decided it was time to post more pics of my kids just because they are so darn cute! Things have been going pretty well with us. Dayv has been working extra hours at the shop for more money. So, he's gone by 6:30 am and gets home at 10:00 pm. Not much fun for anybody but I really do appreciate all that he does to support our family. He really works hard. I am now 16 wks pregnant (as you know from my previous post). I have started feeling the baby (always very cool) and we get to find out what it is on the 1st of September! YEA!!! The kids went with me to my last appointment last friday and Pete (my nurse midwife) let him hold the doppler while he listened to the baby's heartbeat. Carson thought that was pretty cool. The baby even kicked 4/5 times while it the doppler was on my belly. The kids recently spent two nights at Grandma's (Denton) and had loads of fun. It was also a nice break for Dayv and I. We went to Park City! Well, I guess that's pretty much all that's happened in the last little while. I'll try to keep this updated more often but I'm not promising anything....
p.s. The pic of Carson kind of has a funny story. I guess he decided that Keltin was his little pet that he had to take care of. Keltin was already sitting in the box and so Carson got him a blanket and tried feeding him a carrot. He also took a nap (like 10 sec) with him later. What was so funny is Keltin actually stayed in his box for several hours as Carson was "taking care of him". Maybe he liked the pampering, who knows?
MY PREGNANT BELLY
16 WKS
Hope this doesn't gross anyone out but I was on a message board for Jan 2007 babies and they had a thread where everybody was posting their pregnant bellies. I thought it looked kind of fun. I've never been one to like taking pictures period when I'm pregnant but since this is going to be my last pregnancy I thought, what the heck. So, here it is. Sorry it's so close, I had to take it myself. Maybe I'll post a better one later.
